Men with Heart - Melbourne
As part of National Men’s Health Week (13th – 18th June) our inter-active, award winning multi-media installation already seen by thousands of Tasmanians is in Melbourne. All who have seen it are moved by the deep personal nature of the photos and comments shared by these men with heart.
This is an uplifting experience because, in a world often portraying toxic masculinity here are men who authentically share from the heart. They proudly and unashamedly are able to feel into, and be alive to, their emotions. They acknowledge and welcome their own and others' strengths and vulnerabilities.
We hold regular Men’s Circles in Tasmania throughout the year. These images were captured over decades at our Annual Tasmanian Men’s Gathering on a bush property. Here at our annual themed gatherings run by skilled facilitators, men are challenged to become more healthy, balanced and empowered people. They learn to be authentic, open-hearted, compassionate and self-aware in today's somewhat negative world, to become better fathers, brothers, sons and partners.
Men with Heart is an inter-active installation of photos and videos, personal comments and poems. You are encouraged to share your own responses by writing your thoughts and feelings on the cards provided next to each image, as well as contributing to the expansive visitor's book.
Meet the photographer Paul Hoelen at the official opening Sun 12th June 2pm-3.30pm.
Join Anthony Burrows and Paul Hoelen in a Heart Circle the same Sunday 5pm - 7pm to actually feel and experience how men can be when they speak from their hearts.
Monday 13th June meet Paul Hoelen again for an illustrated artist’s talk and hear how over 20 years Paul has been allowed into the annual Tasmanian Men’s Gathering to capture these special moments.

If you would like to book the exhibition space Monday, Tuesday or Friday evenings to immerse yourselves in this very personal exhibition while you hold your session please contact Alan Raby. We have found men go much deeper once they have witnessed these men in process.
We will only be able to open the exhibition the weekends of 18th-19th June, 25th-26th June if men living in Melbourne are able to staff the exhibition. Anthony and Paul have to return to Hobart for work between the opening and closing weekends. Please contact Alan Raby if you can assist.
